Saga is a Layer 1 blockchain protocol designed to make it easy for developers to launch dedicated, application-specific blockchains called "Chainlets." Saga aims to be an infrastructure layer for web3 development, particularly focused on gaming, entertainment, and decentralized applications that require high performance, scalability, and customizable environments. Developers can spin up their own Chainlets rapidly and affordably, providing their users with dedicated blockspace, predictable gas fees (or no gas fees for users), and tailor-made blockchain environments optimized for their specific needs. The native token, SAGA, is central to this ecosystem. It is used by developers to pay for the resources consumed by their Chainlets (effectively paying validators to secure them). SAGA is also used for staking by network validators to secure the protocol and Chainlets, receiving rewards from developer payments.
