Liquity is a decentralized borrowing protocol that allows users to draw interest-free loans against their Ether (ETH) collateral. Loans are issued in LUSD, a stablecoin pegged to the US Dollar, and are secured by a collateralization ratio requirement (minimum 110%). Unlike other lending protocols, Liquity does not charge interest on loans; instead, it uses a one-time borrowing fee and stability mechanisms. The protocol is designed to be maximally decentralized and censorship-resistant, with no governance controls intended to be exercised by external parties once fully launched. The Liquity ecosystem includes two tokens: LUSD, the stablecoin, and LQTY, the protocol's utility and governance-like token. LQTY is distributed to users who provide stability to the protocol by staking LUSD in the Stability Pool (used to repay liquidated debt) and to users who provide liquidity to the LUSD/ETH Uniswap pool. LQTY holders can also stake LQTY to earn a share of borrowing and redemption fees generated by the protocol. LQTY aligns incentives for participants to support the protocol's stability and operations.
