Fei USD (FEI) was initially designed as a purely algorithmic stablecoin aiming to maintain a peg to the US Dollar using a Protocol Controlled Value (PCV) mechanism rather than traditional collateral. While the initial launch faced challenges, Fei V2 introduced significant changes, moving towards a hybrid model with increased emphasis on tangible reserves managed by the protocol alongside algorithmic controls. FEI is intended for use as a stable medium of exchange and store of value within decentralized finance (DeFi). Its stability is maintained through a complex system involving incentives for users to buy/sell FEI based on its price relative to the peg and the management of the Protocol Controlled Value, which consists of various assets managed by the protocol itself.
