FACT0RN (FACT) is a layer-2 scaling solution designed to process a high volume of transactions off-chain while leveraging the security of the underlying Bitcoin blockchain. It operates as a ledger system that bundles multiple transactions into a single hash, which is then recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain, significantly reducing transaction costs and increasing throughput. FACT is the native utility token within the Factom Protocol (the underlying technology), used for acquiring "Entry Credits" which are required to record data onto the Factom blockchain (and thus anchored to Bitcoin). It provides a mechanism for securely and immutably storing large amounts of data, making it suitable for applications requiring high transaction volume and data integrity, such as supply chain management, auditing, and record keeping, all verifiable via the Bitcoin anchor.
