USD Coin (Wormhole) represents a version of the widely-used USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin that has been bridged to a different blockchain network using the Wormhole cross-chain protocol. USDC is a centralized stablecoin issued by Circle, pegged 1:1 to the US Dollar. When bridged via Wormhole, these tokens maintain their 1:1 peg to USD but exist as wrapped or canonical versions on chains like Solana, Avalanche, Polygon, etc. Wormhole USDC allows users to utilize the stability of USDC within ecosystems beyond Ethereum, enabling participation in DeFi, NFTs, and other applications on those networks while relying on Wormhole's security for the bridge.
