Mirror Protocol (MIR) was a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol built on the Terra blockchain that allowed users to create and trade "mAssets" – synthetic assets that track the price of real-world assets like stocks. Users could mint mAssets by locking collateral and trade them on the Mirror exchange. Following the collapse of the Terra ecosystem in May 2022, the Mirror Protocol and its mAssets largely ceased functioning as intended, and the value and utility of the MIR token dropped dramatically. Historically, MIR was the governance token for the protocol, used for voting on which mAssets to list and protocol parameters.
